ENTER CITY, PA — On Wednesday, April 10th, the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of IFMA toured the new Com- cast Innovation and Technol- ogy Center and was given an insider perspective via an outstanding panel of those who helped bring an idea, a concept, a process, a meth- odology to a ‘reality’. The tower includes 10 NBC and Telemundo that are also Com- cast companies. The panel, comprised of: Krista Sinker, senior direc- tor , Campus Planning – Comcast Josh Katz, principal – Gensler Andrew Horning – VP, corporate market sector lead- er – Bala Phil Castellano – VP , real estate operations – Liberty Property Trust The building includes both cutting edge technology and contemporary amenities: des- tination dispatch elevators, each floor includes an all gen- der restroom with a shower and an underground walkway that connects the headquar- ters tower. A typical floor has both an assigned height adjustable desk and an alternate collab- orative space for each person assigned to that floor. This is in contrast to other compa- nies that are assigning two employees to each space to reduce real estate costs. There is a fitness center, conferenc- ing / collaboration floors and a multi-purpose amphithe- ater town hall named after Comcast founder, Ralph J. Roberts. The artwork throughout the tower honors Philadelphia and Philadelphia artists that actually executed their work on-site at the tower. The in- terior design includes exposed structure, flooring transitions are designed to aid visually and hearing-impaired employ- ers with both sound differen- tiation and visually changes. The design intent was to have it look like an industrial loft in the sky. Many of the design concepts were mocked up in a Horsham facility prior to incorporating into the tower design. Every three floors contribute to a 3-floor community with an open area called a sky garden. Lobbies walls have what is analogous to a giant peg board C

with colored pegs that can be reconfigured into various

designs as they wait for an elevator.
