Whether you're returning to familiar classrooms or stepping onto campus for the first time, let’s be excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. As we embark on the new year, let's focus on the exciting milestones ahead. Whether it's graduation, planning for future careers, or transferring to other institutions, WVC is the launchpad for your aspirations. Our dedicated faculty and staff are here to guide you as you navigate your educational journey. Tap in. Here's to a semester filled with achievement, growth, and shared experiences. Your success is our priority, and we can't wait to see all that you will accomplish in 2024. Welcome back, Warriors! Warm regards,

Winter break was way too short. I did enjoy the time off, spending the holidays with family but now it’s time to knock out one more semester here at The Bash! (At least for me!) For all my fellow sophomores out there: just one semester left! Let’s finish strong and walk across the stage in May, proud of what we have accomplished. And to the freshman class who still have another year to go, enjoy it. I have enjoyed my time here so far and I will continue to do so until the end. It all goes by too fast, but we all still have classes to finish first! Back to the grind and good luck! Read on!

ALUMNI/EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT Did you transfer? Where did you transfer to and why? What was your degree(s) in? I didn’t transfer immediately because I’m a full time parent so I had to get a job full time but now I have transferred to Easter Illinois University online for my bachelors and I’m doing that for business Where have you worked? Wabash Container, Goodyear and now I work at WVC What do you do now? I am the Assistant to the Dean of Instruction

What do you enjoy most about your current job? Everything. I love the challenge of it. Putting the schedule together is like a puzzle. It is fun. Did you feel like college prepared you for the workforce? Yes, I think so. Especially business wise. It taught me that knowledge is power and you don’t put another business down to gain in your own business. You work to talk your business up. What do you do in your free time? I sleep a lot when I have the ability outside of work and school. Advice for the workplace? Everything is fine. It’s not the end of the world if you do something wrong. Just fix the problem and move on. You can make mistakes, it’s ok. Any advice for students in high school/college? Take it seriously, do your homework and get good grades. It will follow you. Favorite quote? “the times you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you” -- The Bible

SARAH CLODFELTER

When did you attend WVC? 2015 Did you graduate? Yes What was your degree in? Associate in Applied Science, majoring in Business Why did you choose to attend WVC? It was cheap (chuckles). A part of Mt. Carmel, tight knit. Seems like everybody knows everybody. Favorite part about Mount Carmel/WVC? [same as reason for choosing WVC] tight knit. Seems like everybody knows everybody. Favorite class? Dave Wilderman’s class What do you remember most about your time at WVC? The friends I made. Working in Student Services. Getting to know everybody. Any Clubs or athletics you were in? I was in Marketing Club, I still have my sweater in my closet

FUN FACT Illinois Eastern Community College District 529 is a district of four colleges: Frontier Community College, Lincoln Trail College, Olney Central College, and Wabash Valley College . Like WVC, the other colleges are a great choice for college affordability and educational excellence. There is a wide range of degree and certificate programs that provide choices in pursuit of a career and technical education or as a pathway to a four-year institution. This is an excellent choice for high school students, those looking for a career change or just simply want to pick up a class or two along life’s journey.

Over the winter break, WVC employees and staff participated in the Spring Faculty Workshop in preparation for the academic semester. Sessions included marketing and public relations, mental health and training on the synchronous lecture hall (pictured).

A FESTIVE CLOSING

At the end of December, the Wabash Valley Originators ignited the magic of the season with 'Christmas in Warmwater, IL,' a production for all ages. Participants were able to enjoy a taco bar, local talents, and festive treats. Held at the Brubeck Arts Center, the turnout was one for the entire family to enjoy.

There are two (2) study abroad opportunities for IECC students this summer. As an international alumni stated: STUDENT STUDY ABROAD OPPORTUNITIES

That is such a fantastic idea! Now IECC students get to experience our countries and cultures just as we did yours when we studied IECC. Interested students should contact Cassandra Goldman, IECC Dean of Students, at 618-263- 4999 x3166.
