Parenting through the teen years can be the most demanding of all of the ages and stages our kids grow through. Often with very little support available to help us along the way. As our teens start to figure out who they are as people and start to seperate from their parents identity it can often bring conflict into the home. The teen years are full of many firsts and as brains are going under there last hard wiring and hormones are changing it really is not surprising that they struggle with anxiety, embarrassment and confusion. Somehow as parents we have to navigate our way though this and get our teens across to adulthood. Certainly no easy task! Lastly no parent should feel isolated from their teens behaviour. Somehow in society sharing our younger children’s unsociable behaviour is well talked about but when our kids become teens parents can fell a reluc- tance to share and reach out for support. No parent teen relationship is beyond repair and with some extra parental support and lots of love our teens can thrive.
