THE FFA MARKET PLACE

for Correctional Services. Aimed at increasing access to higher education and improving reintegration outcomes, the project delivered a departmental certificate course in Entertainment Business to eight inmates and two wardens in the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre. FACULTY OF HUMANITIES AND EDUCATION, ST. AUGUSTINE LEVERAGING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR ASSESSMENT The School of Education (SOE) improved the quality of teaching and learning and student development by hosting a workshop on Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Assessment to sensitize staff to the influence of AI on assessments given that most assignments in the SOE are written papers. SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY SERVICES The Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics provided free Speech Language Pathology Services for children with speech impediments under the department’s Speech Language Pathology programme and clinic.

FACULTY OF LAW, MONA

The UWI-FFA Market Place was launched on March 29, 2023. In addition to serving the campus with produce from the UWI-FFA farms and creating value- added products, the Market Place was launched as a laboratory for agriculture and agribusiness students. The Market Place sells a diverse range of products including milk, fruits, vegetables, honey, healthy snacks, teas and a variety of seedlings and plants as well as organic pesticides for crops (researched and made at the FFA).

IAEA Delegation and UWI Nuclear Law Stakeholders

A team from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) convened a meeting with stakeholders from The UWI to discuss the potential and future plans of the established partnership. The goal was to improve education and professional development in the domain of international and national nuclear law through the UWI graduate programme. This follows a collaboration between the Faculty and the IAEA to hold a comprehensive three-day training session on nuclear law and its components. The sessions took place both in-person and online via Zoom. The course awarded a certificate of participation by the IAEA. Nine Continuing Legal Professional Development (CLPD) credits were awarded to the attorneys who attended the training. FACULTY OF MEDICAL SCIENCES, CAVE HILL POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES IN HEALTH POLICY AND HEALTH SYSTEMS The Faculty of Medical Sciences, Cave Hill, in collaboration with the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO), implemented a postgraduate certificate and diploma in Health Policy and Health Systems for delivery in academic year 2022/2023 onwards. This collaboration will assist the Caribbean region to build capacity in health care policy and systems.

FACULTY OF HUMANITIES AND EDUCATION, CAVE HILL

AVIATION ENGLISH PROGRAMME

After many years of preparation, the Centre for English Language Learning (CELL) welcomed fifteen students to the inaugural Aviation English Programme from April 3 – May 26, 2023. The CELL also successfully hosted an English in the Caribbean for Interpreters course which was attended by persons from France, Switzerland, Spain, Colombia, China, Germany, and Lebanon.

MONA PRISON PROJECT

One of the most remarkable projects of the year for the Faculty was the ICS’s UWI Mona Prison Project, a prison-to-college pipeline initiative, in partnership with Bard College and the Open Society University Network, and in collaboration with the Department
