14 TH ANNUAL UWI TORONTO BENEFIT AWARDS

At the 14 th Annual UWI Toronto Benefit Awards held in at the Ritz Carlton on April 29, Lead Sponsor Scotiabank committed CA$600,000 in support of The UWI’s scholarship programme over the next six years. The event has become a fixture on the Toronto social calendar. As is the custom, recipients of the annual awards were announced, with the Luminary Award going to Dr. the Honourable Sheryl Lee Ralph, OJ, Emmy Award Winning actress, singer, philanthropist and activist. Other honourees included:

Chancellor’s Award BlackNorth Initiative (BNI) A social justice initiative designed to remove anti-Black systemic barriers negatively affecting the lives of Black Canadians.
