The UWI appointed Sandrea Maynard LLB (Hons) LLM, SFHEA, PgCHE as its new Pro Vice- Chancellor Global Affairs effective January 1, 2023. PVC Maynard now leads the regional

Ms. Christine Randle was appointed Director of The UWI Press effective January 2023. The UWI Press benefits from her extensive experience and network as managing director and publisher at her family business. A qualified attorney-at-law,

university’s global engagement portfolio and coordinates all internationalisation and strategic global initiatives across the UWI system, significantly, the progression of the new UWI Global Campus. The national of St. Kitts and Nevis has considerable experience in international student recruitment in China and elsewhere. She was also a project leader in setting up the UWI-Coventry Institute for Industry-Academic Partnership. She is a qualified Barrister-at-Law and has practiced both privately (domestically and internationally) and for the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service. She has filled the roles of Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in Law at Coventry University. She has held senior leadership and management roles within UK universities across the sectors of law, business and university group subsidiaries, and managed multi-disciplinary and multifunctional teams through globally disruptive changes such as BREXIT and COVID-19. In addition, PVC Maynard serves as a Visiting Professor at two institutions in France.

she earned her Bachelor of Laws in 1993 at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She was then admitted to the Bar of England and Wales at Gray’s Inn in 1994 and the Bar of Jamaica in 1995. As the new Director of The UWI Press, Ms. Randle has oversight of its strategic and operational arm and reports directly to Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Hilary Beckles through the Press’ Advisory Board. She is responsible for operationalising the vision of the Board, which is to ensure that the Press becomes an independently financially viable and sustainable arm of The UWI, while maintaining its high-quality standards of cutting-edge academic publishing.
