The second round of relays was then upon us; this time our U19s weren’t left out and they did us proud with great performances. Dulwich College and JAGS then joined forces to produce a fantastic set of mixed relays. Finally, it was the last round of individuals, as well as finals. Our U19s got stuck in and won all the individuals they took part in, with Dulwich College Singapore proving to be tough opposition. Our younger age groups did us proud in the finals, also bringing back a whole host of silverware. Overall, it was an amazing day and a fantastic experience for all involved! BADMINTON OLIVIER BADZIOCH (YEAR 9) Badminton at the 2024 Singapore Olympiad went well for London. Though the players from the other DCs – fea- turing students from Beijing, Seoul, Singapore, Shanghai, Suzhou and Zhuhai – were competitive and fought fiercely, we still managed to bring a few medals home. In the U15s, Olivier Badzioch (Year 9) won gold in the first tier, and Freddie Pickering (Year 10) received bronze in the second tier. These matches were split, with each person playing four initial matches before moving on to the finals, which included another four, decided by point difference if the number of won matches was the same. In the U19s, Barnaby Taylor (Year 12) managed to get silver, completing the set of medals and producing a great final success. Overall, it was a fantastic effort from all teams and a real- ly memorable experience, which every one of us enjoyed. Maybe we can do even better in Shanghai at the next Olympiad. Well done all! FOOTBALL MATTEO CRANCHI (YEAR 12) This year’s Olympiad brought remarkable success across all footballing age groups, with the U13s, U15s and U18s all winning their tournaments. It was the U15s who first set the standard, easing through their group stages and knockout matches, leading to a London A vs London B final. Two late goals from Rufus Stafuzza-Silva (Year 10) and Mylo Bernard (Year 9) saw London A recover from an
BASKETBALL RYAN WAN (YEAR 12)
In the 2024 Singapore Dulwich Olympiad, the U13s, U15s and U18s represented Dulwich London in basketball. Initially, none of us was used to the heat in Singapore and had to adapt to it, but as time went on we got used to it and were no longer at a disadvantage. The U13s achieved a 2–4 record, very commendable since many team mem- bers had never played in a structured basketball game before this tournament, nor had they previously practised together. The U15s overcame an initial loss to secure victories in subsequent matches, ultimately advancing to the plate finals where they narrowly lost, claiming the silver medal. The U18s maintained a record of 2–2, falling to the Singapore team on two occasions – once during the group stages and then again in the cup final, securing second place and a silver medal. SWIMMING ANDREAS KOKKINI (YEAR 12) Swimming kicked off the Dulwich Olympiad with a bang. With the sun scorching in beautiful Singapore, everyone prepared themselves for a great day in the pool. The day began with some relays, with fantastic performances all around from our younger swimmers, all of them full of energy from the start. Then began the individual heats for the U15s and U13s, and we boasted a number of impressive swims that got most swimmers into the finals.
