RESULTS CONTINUED YEAR 8–10’S ROCK BAND
Stones had funded the guitar programme at the Menuhin School of Music. These two bands were followed by the Year 12–13’s rock band playing ‘Sonne’ by Rammstein, and then the concert concluded with the Year 11–13’s band playing ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ by Joy Division and ‘Panic Attack’, a new work written by the drummer of the band, Nathan Firla (Year 13). Thank you to our four guitar teachers at Dulwich College, Alex Bayly, Tim Crampton, David Black and Steve Watts, for their expert and committed teaching and training of all the boys involved in this festival. Thanks, too, to Alex Bayly and to Colin McCann for their wonderful work with the Rock and Pop Project. HOUSE MUSIC COMPETITION RICHARD MAYO, DIRECTOR OF MUSIC
Around 80 musicians from the College’s eight Houses produced a wonderful festival of choral and instrumental pieces for the annual House Music Part Song and Instru- mental Competition held in the Great Hall in February. Drake won the Part Song with their performance of ‘Down to the River’, and Archie Bowers (Year 13) received the new Richard Mayo Part Song Cup. The Instrumental Competition was won by Marlowe with their performance of the Rondo from the Piano Quartet No.1 in G minor, KV 478 by Mozart. Once the scores had been combined with those from the House Electric Competition held earlier in the Lent term (won by Raleigh), Sidney were found to be the overall winners, with Bertie Poullis (Year 12) receiving the Alan Morgan House Music Cup.
