Healthy: Spring/Summer 2024

SWIM TEAM INFORMATION The City of Dublin offers swim team programs to fit multiple schedules and goals. The Dublin Dolphins consists of three identical summer teams, which compete locally in the N.E.W. League and are suited for developmental swimmers of all ages. The Dublin Sea Dragons is a year-round USA Swimming team, which competes in the spring and summer around Ohio. Dublin Dolphins Summer Swim Teams More information is available at DublinDolphins.com May 28- July 17 The Dublin Dolphins Swim Team is a recreational summer team that competes in the N.E.W. League, a local summer swim league. The Dolphin Teams practice in the mornings at either the North or South Community pools. Members of the team are required to have a Dublin Community Pool season pass and to be Dublin residents or school district residents. There are weekly competitions with other N.E.W. league teams on Wednesday nights. Swim team practices begin on the morning of May 28. Practice & meet participation are highly encouraged for membership. Please contact Lynn Bowers at dcstoffice@gmail.com if you have questions about practice or meet participation before registering. Advanced swimmers who train with outside swimming clubs still need to fulfill practice expectations to participate in competitions with the teams. Ability Requirements: The swim team is not a replacement for swim lessons and all new members must safely swim 25 yards of freestyle & backstroke during an evaluation. Swimmers joining as 9 yrs. and older must be able to swim 50 yards (2 lengths of the competition pool) freestyle without stopping and with proper breathing and able to swim 25 yards of backstroke. Swimmers competing as 8 yrs. and younger must be able to float comfortably on both front and back, and swim 25 yards freestyle and backstroke. Swimmers who have competed in year-round programs do not need an evaluation but need to contact Lynn Bowers at dcstoffice@gmail. com for an exemption. Required New Swimmer Evaluations New swimmers must attend a one-on-one evaluation at the DCRC lap pool. This determines eligibility for the team, not registration . Parents, please review the requirements listed above before bringing children for an evaluation. Swimmers who are unable to complete the requirements are recommended to register for swim lessons or to return for another evaluation. Register for an evaluation today through the Dublin Dolphin website at DublinDolphins.com. Evaluation dates are April 20-21 for siblings of returning swimmers, and April 27-28 for new swimmers. A signup with time slots will be available here once we get closer to the dates. If you are unable to find an open spot or make the weekends offered, please contact Coach Lynn Bowers to schedule an evaluation before registration closes on May 10. Completing an evaluation DOES NOT save your swimmer a spot in the Dolphins program.

Team Registration Returning swimmers who wish to register with their previous 2023 swim team/group (Arctic, Atlantic, Pacific) have the opportunity to do so as a “returning swimmer” once registration begins. Swimmers and families wishing to change teams/groups will need to wait until open enrollment to sign up for a different team/group. All new team members (including siblings of returning swimmers) must either pass the evaluation (see “evaluations” under the INFO tab for more) or provide information of previous swim team experience, before the online registration. Spots are limited and go very quickly.

Returning 2023 swimmers and siblings (same team) Monday, April 22 at 7 p.m. Open Enrollment Monday, April 29 at 7 p.m.

Registration for swim team will close on Friday, May 10 at 10 p.m. Possession of a valid season pool pass is required before the first practice. Team Selection and Practice Groups Team placement is self-selected by each family at registration based on availability. Families may choose which facility best accommodates them. Team selection is on a first-come basis until a team fills up for safety reasons. The Arctic and Atlantic teams practice at the North Pool and the Pacific team practices at the South Pool. Parent Volunteer Requirement The success of the Dublin Dolphin program relies on parent volunteers during swim meets. All families are required to volunteer for at least two or more of their child’s meets. Sign up for your family’s shifts starting the day of the mandatory parent meeting through the Dolphin website at DublinDolphins.com.
