Healthy: Fall 2024

Block Party Packages The City of Dublin offers civic and homeowner associations the use of block party packages. These include tents, chairs, tables, trash bins, sandwich boards, barricades and a sound system. Association leadership may formally reserve the block party between May 1 and Oct. 31. All packages include a $50 rental. Additional reservation requests for each association within the same year are $100. The City will deliver the package on Friday afternoon before 3 p.m. and pick it up the following Monday after 6 a.m. from one predetermined location in your neighborhood. It is the responsibility of the neighborhoods to set up and tear down the equipment within these timeframes. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis. Only official associations may rent this equipment. Rental is available for neighborhood-hosted and entire neighborhood-invited gatherings. This package is not available or intended for graduation parties, garage sales or personal events. If a block party is misused, future privileges may be denied. If you have questions, please get in touch with Community Events at 614.410.4545 or blockparty@dublin.oh.us.

PUMPKIN COMPOSTING

Embrace Sustainability This Fall Our 24/7 Pumpkin Composting Drop-off is back Oct. 21-Dec. 13! We encourage residents and their families to help us landfill waste by visiting the City Service Center (6555 Shier Rings Road) to toss those mushy gourds. Make it a trip with the kids using the basketball hoop and smashboard! In 2023, you helped divert 78,620 pounds of pumpkins and other gourds from the landfill. Help us increase that number again! Please note that pumpkins cannot be included with your yard waste pickup as they do not decompose like grass clippings or leaves and are not accepted by yard waste processing facilities. For more information, visit DublinOhioUSA.gov/city-services/pumpkin-composting.

Did you know that feeding deer and other wildlife can lead to larger gatherings of animals in residential areas? This interferes with their natural feeding habits and can have dangerous consequences, such as aggressive encounters and increased vehicle vs. animal crashes. The City of Dublin recognizes the growing deer population in Ohio. In response, Dublin City Council passed an Outdoor Feeding Ordinance. This ordinance addresses current and future concerns around the increase in wild animal populations. Help us coexist with our wildlife safely by disposing of pumpkins and other fall decorations properly. Visit DublinOhioUSA.gov/recreation-services/parks/nature-education for more information on the Outdoor Feeding Ordinance. DON’T FEED THE WILDLIFE!
