AFUWI 23 rd Annual Legacy Awards Gala The American Foundation for The UWI (AFUWI) kept its attention focused on fundraising for the scholarship programme for students in dire financial need. Its 23 rd Annual Legacy Awards Gala — the major fundraising vehicle for this enterprise—was held on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. The affair at the Pierre Hotel in New York featured a star-studded list of guests and honorees, including the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, The Hon. Allan Chastenet; celebrated actress and activist Ms. Lorraine Toussaint; former New York State Governor, Hon. David Patterson; media personalities Angela Yee, Janell Snowden, and Maurice DuBois; entertainment influencers and artists Doug E. Fresh, Paxton Baker, and Freddie Jackson; and New York State’s ‘political royalties’ like Charlie Rangel and Dr. Una Clarke.

Alumnus Shaneil Salmon and student Sanica Blair proudly represented The UWI, expressing gratitude to the donors and patrons for their support.
