THE ALLEYNIAN 710

Artwork – Vincent Powers (Year 11)

The Devil’s allure. Asmodeus’ fur. Wore me like a coat, the quick witted scrote. His numbing presence a daydream haze. Clouded eyes, he leads me. I’m blind. Laughing accusations accost me. Shuttering cameras, flittering papers. The Sun burns me – Frail figure.

Young voice of jazz, Razzmatazz. Youthful, fun, genius. Rhymes and rhythms bubble up From my bosom to throat.

At a bar I wrote, sipping a beer. To my left I noticed him standing near. Suffocating perfume. What a large smile and two crisp blue eyes. So hard to spot the lies. Started off with a plant, no grade A crime. In for a penny in for a pound, he said. Next was a line, my heart pounded For him. My vocals hounded for him.

Tabloids Paranoid Was my body always this thin?

Intoxicated I slump into a slumber Silence. I’m free. Sunset.
