EXHIBITS AND EVENTS WITH DUBLIN ARTS COUNCIL

Earth Up Close: Notice the Changes July 13 to Aug. 30

A collection of quilts by local fiber artists Marty Kotter and Deb Baillieul depict their interactions with nature both near and far from home. Kotter and Baillieul separately began works of art reflecting our natural world. Their witness to beauty and wonder, as well as destruction and disregard, is a reminder of the value and fragility of the planet. On view at the Dublin Arts Council (7125 Riverside Drive), free of charge, until Aug. 30, 2024. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the second Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Amazon Rainforest Sept. 14 to Oct. 29

Helen Hoffelt, professional photographer and professor at Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD), and Char Norman, CCAD Dean Emerita and fiber artist, have come together with two-dimensional and three-dimensional works that address environmental issues as they relate to indigenous communities. The artists have traveled extensively together, gathering inspiration and materials from the environment. This current body of work results from a trip to Ecuador, specifically Selva Vida Sin Fronteras—Amazon Reserve for Peace, a sanctuary housing a not-for-profit grassroots organization of the same name in the Amazon rainforest. The exhibition is a reaction to the interwoven cultures, environment and efforts to preserve both. The work is a combination of materials and techniques relating to the expertise of each artist as well as joint explorations and discoveries.
