Operation Watchful Eye : Henry County Sheriff's Office Ensures Compliance Among Registered Sex Offenders

In a dedicated effort to bolster public safety and enforce compliance within the county, the Henry County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) initiated Operation Watchful Eye under its Field and Support Operations. Operation Watchful Eye, spearheaded by the HCSO Sex Offender Unit, comprised 276 home visits to registered sex offenders across Henry County. Out of the total visits conducted, an overwhelming majority—272 offenders— were found to be compliant with state guidelines. However, the operation also unearthed four individuals deemed non-compliant, prompting the issuance of warrants for their arrest under the charge of Failure to Comply (O.C.G.A. 42-12-1(n)).

Sheriff Reginald B. Scandrett underscored the paramount importance of safeguarding children, particularly during festive seasons like Halloween. The operation not only verified the accuracy of registered addresses but also ensured the absence of any decorations or items that could potentially entice children.

"Our duty to protect our children is paramount, and we will leave no stone unturned to ensure their safety," affirmed Sheriff Scandrett, highlighting the HCSO's steadfast commitment to community welfare.
