HCSO 2023 Annual Report

In a remarkable journey towards achieving the coveted "Triple Crown" accreditation, the Accreditation Unit, under the leadership of Director Antonio Webb is actively driving the agency's commitment to the highest standards in law enforcement and corrections. The Triple Crown Award, established by the National Sheriff's Association (NSA), is a prestigious recognition for agencies simultaneously accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), the American Correctional Association's Commission on Accreditation for Corrections (ACA), and the National Commission on Correctional Healthcare (NCCHC).

Collaboration and partnerships are also important to the agency’s journey towards accreditation. Partnerships with accredited agencies such as the Georgia Police Accreditation Coalition (GPAC) and fellow Georgia Sheriff’s offices and local police departments, which include site visits and peer-to- peer feedback, have provided invaluable insights into best practices, operational processes, and expertise in achieving state and national certifications.

In 2023, we actively enhanced team members' knowledge and skills through participation in conferences and training hosted by NCCHC, CALEA, and ACA . The commitment to ensuring familiarity with accreditors and the accreditation process is evident in the introduction during orientation for new hires and an annual overview for incumbent employees. Additionally, we have activated a systematic annual review and update of policies and procedures , as well as the establishment and adherence of an Accreditation Process timeline.
