Drawing Following an interdisciplinary approach from a wide range of artistic traditions, use varied materials (pencil, charcoal, markers, Chinese brush, pen and ink) to draw from observation and imagination. Through demonstrations, learn how to use light and dark values to bring your subjects to life. Explore various drawing techniques to enhance and develop your individual skill and your satisfaction. Class is suitable for beginners or those with experience. ANTONIA BAROLINI-ALVAREZ is a painter and draftsperson working in watercolor, oil, acrylic, marker, colored pencil, as well as oil and chalk pastel. She received a BA from Bard College where she majored in studio art and minored in literature and an MFA from the New York Academy of Art. She was twice awarded the Bard Fund for Visual Learning Grant and, while at the Academy, the Terra Foundation’s Giverny Summer Residency. Her work has appeared in various group shows in New York City and Poughkeepsie. Meditative Art of Mandalas Gain an understanding of mandalas both as an ancient spiritual practice and as a modern tool of self-discovery. Participants will create their own personal mandalas using water colors, markers, and colored pencils. In addition to enjoying the meditative act of mandala creation, participants will be guided to use the mandala as a tool for ongoing meditation practice. Absolutely no prior experience or skill is needed. Explore a new modality for self-discovery, self-care, and fun. All supplies will be provided. KATY ROMITA is the founder of One Small Stone, a meditation center dedicated to helping people find more peace in their own lives and in the world. Romita is a certified Meditation Instructor and a Mindful Schools Mindfulness Foundations graduate. Introduction to Drawing and Acrylic Painting

Learn to see like an artist and gain the drawing and painting skills you’ve always wanted. By using an easy structured approach to drawing and painting, you will gain new skills and take your work to the next level. Through observation, you will learn line, shape, value, composition and color by painting from still life and reference photos. This course is ideal for beginner and intermediate students who want to learn the fundamentals of painting in acrylic in a relaxing atmosphere. See materials list on website. AMANDA WILSON holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts and an MAT in Art Education from Manhattanville College. Her illustrations have appeared in Adweek, the Atlantic Monthly, New York Magazine, the New Yorker, and on numerous book jackets. Wilson has exhibited at the Edward Hopper House Museum and Study Center, American Institute of Graphic Arts,Society of Illustrators, and the Society of Publication Designers.
