Oil Painting for Beginners This course is designed for those with little to no experience of oil painting. Students will learn about the paint, color mixing, value, mediums, brushes, aspect ratios, substrates and surface preparation, with a strong focus on color and composition. Using still life as subject matter, painting both from photos and from life to compare, students will use the traditional alla prima method and learn how to paint without the use of solvents. A supply list will be provided. An ipad or smart phone is advantageous, though not essential. JACQUELINE DAVIS is an artist, originally from England. Davis headed a high school design and technology department for many years. She has also worked in graphic design and ceramics. For the past ten years, Davis's passion has been oil painting with a strong focus on color and composition. Intermediate Oil Painting Using small florals and glass vessels as the subject matter, try simplifying shapes and looking at the interplay of light to create vibrant and beautiful paintings. Painting still life both from photos and from actual objects for comparison, students will use the traditional alla prima method and learn how to paint without the use of solvents. A supply list will be provided. An ipad or smart phone is advantageous, though not essential. This class is best suited for those with some previous knowledge of oil painting. Open Studio Painting for All Levels This beginner/intermediate class will nurture your creativity using the medium of your choice. Devote structured time to explore ideas or learn technique with the guidance of an award-winning artist. Receive assistance in composition, color mixing, and techniques specific to your painting. Express Yourself Through Collage Discover the creative art of collage where there are no rules or limitations. By learning a new technique each week like stenciling, rubbings, or creating your own decorative paper, you will explore color, texture, and shape. A different theme will be suggested each week as you learn to trust the creative process. Relax and play in a warm, supportive atmosphere while you express your unique point of view.
