Healthy: Winter/Spring 2024

OUTREACH & ENGAGEMENT

Community spirit. Volunteerism. Connectedness. Involvement. These are hallmarks of Dublin’s character. We value the thousands of residents, groups and corporate citizens who come to our assistance and make an impact every day.

In the winter and spring months, the volunteer spirit is in abundance as the City of Dublin partners with the community to accomplish the following: Be a Snow Angel While our SnowGo staff members are clearing snow from our streets to keep us safe, sometimes our elder neighbors need help digging out the elements. If you’re willing to be a Snow Angel by offering to help a neighbor dig out of the snow who just can’t physically get to it, we’ll connect you to a neighbor in need. St. Patrick’s Day Be a part of the greenest, grandest day of the year as the City hosts the spectacular St. Patrick’s Day parade. You can be part of the tradition of guiding giant balloons down the parade route, serving as a safety marshal, helping at information tents and more. The Bluebird Team Keep Dublin’s bluebird population healthy and plentiful in parks and public land by monitoring bluebird boxes and maintaining box standards. This is a great family project! Heritage Interpreters Share your knowledge and love of nature with residents and visitors who enjoy Dublin’s park system. Interpreters at the historic Ferris- Wright Park host education groups and resident tours. They serve on-site at the park to answer questions about this unique treasure in Dublin. The Giving Garden Mark your calendars for spring weather! Plan to spend at least once a week tending to, watering and harvesting The Giving Garden, a vegetable and herb garden at the Coffman Historic Homestead. All produce goes to The Dublin Food Pantry. Earth Day Make plans to plant, clear, clean up and join your fellow residents to celebrate the earth in April when we celebrate spring growth. Dublin K.I.D.S. (Kids In Dublin Service) Children in grades kindergarten through 5th are invited to join this volunteer team that teaches the importance of service to others. Paired with Avondale Senior Village, this program inspires service with an intergenerational value. The Office Team Join us once a week or as often as you can to help with projects, data input, organization and other ways to keep your skillset sharp and our office teams supported. Project Ideas We welcome your project ideas! If you see a need or know of a missing link in the Dublin community that could be impacted by people coming together to solve it, please let us know. We can facilitate, connect and help you get started. Go to DublinOhioUSA.gov/volunteer to learn more about these volunteer needs and how you, your family, friends or corporate team can reach out and make a difference.
