New legislation allows donors 70 ½ or older to use qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from their IRA accounts to establish life-income gifts benefiting a qualified charity. You can currently, during one year in your lifetime, contribute up to a $50,000 maximum ($100,000 with spouse contribution) QCD that can be used to fund a gift that will pay income for life, like a Charitable Gift Annuity.
