HEALTH

Students investigate a range of social, cultural, identity and values - based factors that influence an individual ’ s ability to be mentally healthy and physically active. Students investigate the signs, symptoms, causes and treatment of many common health ailments. They critically evaluate the implications of these ailments from an individual, community and societal perspective. Students discuss the nature of independence in terms of adolescent development through relationships, drug and sex education. Students focus on respectful relationships and harm - minimisation strategies that can be used to ensure their own and others' safety. Students study a range of community support services and analyse stigma and community attitudes that are often associated with health conditions and examine influences that impact healthy behaviours. Students develop an awareness of basic First Aid and CPR.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

In Physical Education, student voice and agency will direct student opportunities and they will be involved and have choice in both competitive and non - competitive physical activities and tasks. Students develop their skills in selected physical activities and combine motor skills, strategic thinking and tactical knowledge to improve individual and team performance. Students will also measure their personal fitness levels, and identify places within their community to maintain participation in vigorous physical activity. Students engage in outdoor physical activities with a focus on the environment and how we interact with it, some outdoor activities will include rock climbing and hiking.
