YEAR 9 TECHNOLOGY ELECTIVES
PRODUCT DESIGN: MATERIALS Students write their own design briefs and apply principals of diagnostic thinking and the design process to find solutions to problems that are presented to them. Students sketch their ideas, produce isometric and computer aided drawings (CAD), carry out hazard identification and risk analysis and production planning. Students focus on quality and accuracy to transform ideas into built products. Students develop their hand and tool skills as they produce a range of products from different materials like wood, metal and plastics appropriate to the task. Testing and modification play a role in product improvement as part of an evaluation process that will be included in a design folio for each product challenge.
