YEAR 10 HPE ELECTIVES
PHYSICAL EDUCATION Students participate in sports, games and activities which require them to learn new skills or adapt previously learnt skills in a new context. They examine the human structure and function and skill acquisition principles that can be applied in physical activity and sport. They explore language associated to biomechanics and use this knowledge to explore and explain physical activity opportunities using a variety of measures. Through involvement in a variety of practical activities, students investigate and analyse locomotive movement patterns. They develop a broad understanding of fitness components, methods to develop these areas and principles athletes use to develop their capabilities in their sport. HEALTH & HUMAN DEVELOPMENT Health and Human Development provides students with the opportunity to develop a broad view of health and wellbeing. It incorporates physical, social, emotional, mental and spiritual dimensions. Students explore biological, sociocultural and environmental factors that impact health and development. They examine how health and wellbeing may be influenced across the lifespan by the conditions into which people are born, grow, live, work and age.
