Senior Secondary Curriculum

ATAR - The ATAR is a number between 0 and 99.95, and it ’ s made up of the scaled study scores from your top four scoring subjects (including at least one English subject), plus 10% of your fifth and sixth subjects. Once these scaled study scores are added together, they form an aggregate. This is then converted into your ATAR. SEAS – The Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) is the umbrella program run by most institutions to which students will be applying for courses through VTAC. The Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) is for tertiary applicants who have experienced educational disadvantage. VM – The VCE Vocational Major is a 2 - year vocational and applied learning program within the VCE. The program aims to equip students with the skills, knowledge, confidence and agency needed to prepare for the world of work and further education and training. VPC – The Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) is an inclusive and flexible certificate. The VPC is similar to the VM but offers additional support for students to develop the work - related skills and capabilities they need to succeed. VET - Undertaking Vocational Education and Training while at school allows students to mix general and vocational education and to make a start on training for a career before they leave school. Schools usually engage external RTOs, including TAFE institutes, to deliver VET programs. SBAT – A school - based apprenticeship or traineeship (SBAT) gives a student paid on - the - job training while they complete secondary school. SBATs combine part - time employment with training toward a nationally recognised vocational education and training (VET) qualification.

SWL – Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) is designed to help students apply the skills and knowledge they learn in their VET program in an industry environment.

UoC— Unit of Competency is used in VET subjects.
