VET PROGRAM

WHAT IS VET?

• It is a two - year program combining general VCE studies and accredited vocational education and training

• Enables students to complete a nationally recognised vocational qualification (e.g. Certificate II in Hospitality Operations) and the VCE at the same time.

• Allows a student to go directly into employment or receive credit towards further study

• Focuses on students developing industry specific and workplace skills.

HOW DOES VET WORK?

A VET in Schools program is usually made up of:

VCE VET units: VET units are delivered by a registered training organisation (e.g. TAFE), student ’ s school or another school close by. Each VET program is divided into modules which cover industry competencies. Generally each VET unit is worth one VCE unit. Assessment is competency or outcome based in VET units, that is, the student will have to demonstrate their ability to perform all the required skills by completing practical tasks and written work.
