There are several hotels in the area, however couples may also consider a stay at Terra Stay Farm or Burke Manor Inn . For those who really want to be close to nature, there are four campgrounds and one RV park. Day 1: The Haw River is a water lover’s paradise. 14 paddle accesses offer access to the entire length of the river through Alamance County. Visitors can download amap at www.thehaw.org to see details of all access points (skill levels, distances, etc.). For those who want to rent canoes or kayaks or get a guided tour, Haw River Canoe and Kayak can help. After your tour of the river, try a different Haw River tour: Haw River Farmhouse Ales. This is where, in 1771, an army of backcountry farmers called Regulators took on royal governor William Tryon’s militia. Although the Regulators were defeated, their tactics became a model for the colonists fighting in the Revolutionary War. The Allen House is a must-see at the battleground site. From the battleground site, head to Cedarock Historical Farm for a glimpse at life in the 1800s. The farm features restored buildings and livestock. Round out the day with a visual exploration of art and culture at Alamance Arts . An 1871 home has been turned into an art gallery that features works from local, regional and nationally acclaimed artists. Art appreciation continues with a visit to the Paramount , an Art Deco theater built in the 1920s. Hours vary by event. Day 2: Alamance County was a titan of the textile industry. The Textile Heritage Museum showcases that rich history. Pictures, raw fabric, looms and other machinery are on display. Wind down with a stroll through the beautiful campus of Elon University . .
