YEAR 4 CHRISTMAS PRODUCTION: SUPERSTAR

Christmas Celebration Concerts n The Junior School Christmas Concerts were a ‘shining’ success, with every single Junior School boy taking part in fabulous concerts, which filled the Great Hall with music, drama and joy. The concerts kicked off with ‘Bang-O-Saurus’ from the Junior School Percussion Ensemble, which featured polyrhythms rhythms played on congas, congitas, snare drum, field drum and concert toms. The Junior Wind Band then performed two pieces they’d been working all term, Imperial March and The James Bond Theme. The Twelve Musical Days of Christmas, performed brilliantly by Purcell Strings, featured twelve different Christmas songs, which the audience were able to spot as they listened. The orchestra were phenomenal at following Ms Larkum’s conducting in a difficult piece that changed tempo and time signature multiple times. Our Year 4 boys were absolute stars in their performance of ‘Superstar’, a play within a play that depicts the Christmas story. They managed to project their voices to be heard at the back of the Great Hall and brought the story to life with their excellent acting, singing and dancing. This was most excellently supported by the singing of the rest of the Junior School – each year group was given a chance to sing by themselves as well as being part of whole school songs, which even went into three parts. Every boy sang with energy and passion.
