CONCERTS Dulwich College Winter Concert at Cadogan Hall

n The Junior School boys in the Madrigal Choir had the opportunity to sing in the Dulwich College Winter Concert at Cadogan Hall in December, which was a rather special occasion. They spent many hours learning the treble part to four folk songs arranged by our Head of Singing, Mr Ludford-Thomas and they sang their hearts out to open the concert. Beautifully arranged and enthusiastically conducted by Mr Ludford-Thomas himself, the folk songs filled this prestigious venue with glorious melodies, haunting harmonies and a whole load of joy.

Great Hall Concert n Wednesday’s College Great Hall Concert was opened with the triumphant sounds of the Junior School Orchestra playing Radetzky March by Johann Strauss. Our 48-piece orchestra made a remarkable sound in the Great Hall and the boys were brilliant at watching the conductor so that they stayed in time from beginning to end. They even managed to incorporate some dynamics (louds and quiets) to make the music even more interesting. Purcell Strings then played Pirates of the Caribbean and enjoyed playing the melodies they all know so well! The concert was the culmination of many weeks of hard work and rehearsals; the orchestra did an absolutely fantastic job and should be very proud of themselves. Well done to all the boys involved!
