Performing Arts
The Joy of Singing Vocal technique will be taught through songs from a range of vocal literature — from pop to Broadway to classical. Opportunities to perform solo will be offered in a master-class setting. Choral singing in harmony will also be included, based on the abilities and the number of students in the course. We will also focus on sight reading and theory for the beginning singer. All abilities and levels of experience are welcome in this supportive, non-threatening opportunity to raise your voice in song JENNIFER TIBBETTS holds a bachelor’s degree in Music, Vocal Performance from the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University and a master's degree in Music Education from C.W.Post, Long Island University. She is a teaching artist with the Metropolitan Opera Guild and has served as a NYSSMA adjudicator for both piano and voice. Ring Your Bell for Beginners New to
ringing handbells? New or in need of a fresh start reading music? This class is for you! Come ring a handbell or two in this highly kinesthetic and fun class in which
participants learn to play in an ensemble while developing music reading skills. All music and materials provided. DONNA ELAINE serves as principal flute in the New Choral Society Orchestra, plays with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic, the Yonkers Philharmonic, and the Yonkers Pops Band, and teaches throughout the New York area. 6 Sessions, starting Friday, April 5 starting Friday, April 12 (no class 4/26) • 9:45am-10:30am • Hoff-Barthelson Music School • Course 12530 • $165
Group Piano Lessons for Beginner & Intermediate Students Specially designed for adult learners new to the piano and to the elements of music, this course teaches foundational and continuing skills in piano technique, music reading, music theory, and listening. Intermediate players will benefit from individualized attention this class provides. The class will occur in the new keyboard lab that allows students to work at their own pace. The lab also provides a unique opportunity for students of varying levels to enjoy making music together. STEFAN VASNIER began his musical life at the age of six, studying classical piano at the Paris Conservatory where he gave his first public performances and won several contests. He subsequently studied in Paris, Rome, Budapest, and New York under several notable jazz and classical instructors, leading him to the realization that classical and jazz have no boundaries when performed with freedom and honesty. A member of the Abby Whiteside Foundation, Vasnier has now taught piano privately in Paris and New York for more than 20 years. Vasnier has performed extensively on piano as well as trumpet and cornet throughout Europe and in New York at such notable venues as Carnegie Hall, New York City Center, and Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Lincoln Center, among many others. 8 Sessions, starting Monday, April 8 (no class 4/22, 5/27) • 1:30pm-2:30pm • Hoff-Barthelson Music School • Course 12531 • $295
