Walking Tour: Elizabeth Catlett at the Brooklyn Museum Elizabeth Catlett: A Black Revolutionary Artist and All That It Implies , running September 13, 2024 through January 19, 2025, displays more than 150 works of Catlett (1915-2012), a revolutionary artist and radical activist often overlooked by the mainstream art world. Born in Washington, DC, Catlett settled permanently in Mexico in 1946 where her art and activism focused attention on the experiences of Black and Mexican women.
