Scarsdale Adult School Catalog Fall/Winter 2024-25

Film Discussion of Movies Playing at Jacob Burns Film Center View independently and then gather to converse about select movies currently playing at the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville. Depending on the movie, discussions attempt to give context in cinematic history, make connections to other films by the same filmmakers, and explore the nuances of visual storytelling. Students will be notified of the films in advance of class and are dependent on the theater's calendar. For the first meeting, please come prepared to discuss the Merchant-Ivory film, The Remains of the Day . JOSHUA GAYLORD received a PhD in English at New York University, specializing in twentieth century American and British literature. He has taught at Scarsdale High School since 2021, and, prior to that, he taught at Ramaz Upper School in Manhattan for two decades.
