Drawing: Deconstructing the Face Simplify the complex aspects of portrait drawing by focusing on deconstruction of the separate aspects of the face. Learn about the proportions of the face and head and then go into more detail with each of facial feature, concentrating on eyes, nose, mouth, and, eventually, putting it all together to draw a complete face. This introductory portrait drawing course will improve your drawing and technical skills. Materials list will be sent to registered students prior to class. JOJAYSON is a self-taught artist who started her career as a muralist and decorative painter in London, Sydney, and New York. She started her own series of paintings in 2008 and has become an internationally known artist and teacher in her field. Her work is primarily figurative, with feminine spiritual, healing and empowerment themes. She has a successful Etsy store, which sells her paintings and reproductions online to people all over the world. Drawing the Face Work on full portraits with a focus on proportion and keen observation to improve drawing accuracy in creating a likeness. Observe the more subtle structures of the face to refine your drawings and explore the unique individuality of our subjects. Draw from reference images using B pencils and then experiment with Conté à Paris and charcoal pencils. Class is suitable for those who have taken Drawing: Deconstructing the Face or its equivalent. Introduction to Graphite Pencil Drawing Learn techniques for observational drawing, with a focus on still life and portraits. Students will be introduced to drawing principles such as gesture, structure, and composition. The goal is to learn the classical approach to drawing and the skills acquired will help those interested in keeping a sketchbook. Materials list will be sent to registered students prior to class. MAGGIE O'KEEFE is a New York based artist, classically trained in drawing and painting and works in graphite, oil paint, colored pencil, and watercolor. Recent clients include the New Republic, the Boston Globe, Howler Magazine, and Kristof Farms. She received her BFA from Cornell University in 2019 and studied at the Art Students League of New York.
