Open Studio Painting for All Levels Explore your talents with paints of your choosing (e.g., oil, acrylic, tempera, watercolor paint) while following a theme. Transform a blank canvas into a finished masterpiece with step-by-step instructions to create a one-of-a-kind work. Students will learn and use techniques such as blending, layering, splattering, and dry brushing to add texture and detail. Through demonstration and instruction, paint a variety of subjects, such as animals, flowers, fruit and other subjects. Students will work at their own pace to complete approximately five to nine projects as well as some smaller associated studies. Class is suitable for all levels. See website for materials list. EDWARD GRIGG attended the High School of Art & Design in NYC, graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a BFA Degree in Graphic Design, and spent 25 years offering his unique graphic design creativity to advertising agencies in NYC. He has worked with major companies such as Colgate, Welch's, Advil, and many other consumer goods companies, creating dazzling multimedia campaigns, branding websites, and designing logos. Plein Air Painting Learn to paint plein air landscapes beginning with two classes in the studio and culminating with two onsite painting sessions at the iconic Untermeyer Park in Yonkers. Learn the foundations of landscape painting (color theory, composition, etc.) before venturing out to paint beautiful fall landscapes on location. Each session consists of live demonstrations, shared samples, independent work time with individual support as needed, as well as an opportunity to share your art. Class is suitable for beginners and intermediate painters alike. All materials, including easels for outdoor use, are supplied by the instructor and inclusive in class fee. Class size is limited to eight.
