Painting with Pastels Get colorful and creative with basic pastel drawing and painting techniques, exploring the beauty of the pure pigment of pastels, materials, color theory, and more. Through demonstration and instruction, paint a variety of subjects such as animals, flowers, and travel posters. Students will work at their own pace to complete approximately six to eight projects as well as some smaller associated studies. Class is suitable for all levels. See website for materials list. Using reference images and working with a combination of pastel pencils, soft pastels, and hard pastels on sanded pastel paper, create a variety of still life images and landscapes. Start with the basics and move into more color blending and expression. Live demonstrations provide students with guidance from start to finish. Learn basic color drawing and painting techniques while creating personal greeting cards for friends and family (holiday, birthday and special occasions). Through demonstrations and instruction, paint a variety of subjects, such as animals, flowers, still life, and more. Students will work at their own pace to complete approximately three to five cards by the end of the course. Class is suitable for all levels and students may choose their media (paint, markers, colored pencils, mix media, paper, scissors, and glue). Materials list will be sent to registered students prior to class.
