Drawing and Acrylic Painting Develop your artistic skills by using an easy, structured approach to drawing and painting. Through observation, create depth, understand positive and negative shapes, and learn proportion by painting from still life and reference photos. This course is open to all levels from beginner to those who want to improve their painting skills in a fun, supportive atmosphere. See website for materials list. AMANDA WILSON holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts and an MAT in Art Education from Manhattanville College. Her illustrations have appeared in Adweek, the Atlantic Monthly, New York Magazine, the New Yorker, and on numerous book jackets. Wilson has exhibited at the Edward Hopper House Museum and Study Center, American Institute of Graphic Arts,Society of Illustrators, and the Society of Publication Designers. beginning with an introduction to the materials and how to use oil paints. Following a demonstration, focus on painting a still life while learning color theory, color mixing, and how to paint from life. Materials list will be sent to registered students prior to class. Using still life as subject matter, learn about oil paint, color mixing, value, mediums, brushes and composition. Demonstrations use the traditional alla prima method and paints without the use of solvents. An ipad or smartphone is advantageous though not essential. Materials list will be sent to registered students prior to class. JACQUELINE DAVIS is an artist, originally from England. Davis headed a high school design and technology department for many years. She has also worked in graphic design and ceramics. For the past ten years, Davis's passion has been oil painting with a strong focus on color and composition.
