Restorative Stretch, a Proactive Approach to Stress and Pain Learn three modalities to reduce stress, pain, and improve posture. First, stationary non-impact dynamic joint warm ups will lubricate the joints, increase body awareness, and stimulate local ligaments. Second, myofascial stretching helps lengthen the connective tissue surrounding the bones, muscles, and organs to improve joint function, reduce pain, and increase circulation. Third, ELDOA -- exercises that use the fascial lines to create global tension -- improves joint mechanics, increases blood flow, reduces pressure on the discs, reduces pain, rehydrates spinal discs, and improves posture. All of these modalities require rhythmic breathing and reinforce body awareness to stimulate the motor cortex and collectively improve one's sense of well-being. These are great tools for self-care and stress management. GEOFFROSE is the founder of REP Athletics in Larchmont which specializes in orthopedic issues, back pain, and pain management. Rose started his career as an intern strength coach for Clemson University’s men’s basketball program and learned that, beyond competition, coaching was ultimately about breeding confidence and empowering others. Over the last ten years, he has set out to unravel the structural and physiological make up of the human body in order to help those in pain, those who want to perform at a higher level, and those who seem to get in their own way. 4 Sessions, starting Wednesday, November 6 (no class 11/27) • 11:30am-12:30pm • Westchester Reform Temple • Course 12870 • $140
