BRIAN HENDERSON : EYE - LINE

INTRODUCTION

Brian Henderson’s paintings are works of wonder, from the selection of objects he chooses for each tableau to the tiny brushes that meticulously render them. Almost always painted at eye - level and from carefully set up and lit models and arrangements, Brian’s paintings juxtapose traditional still life subjects with popular culture - plastic Mickey Mouse and Tin Tin models share the space with musical instruments, crystal and glass, as Brian explores the properties of light on each surface. Brian studied at Edinburgh Art College in the 1970s and spent many years as an art teacher on Shetland, before returning to Edinburgh and painting full time. He lives nearby in Morningside with his wife and the many familiar characters that feature in his paintings. These are paintings that delight and inspire, in equal measure, and we hope that you will come to share in the joy that they bring. We warmly welcome you to join us in the gallery on Saturday the 16th of November, for the Private View of this exhibition and an opportunity to meet the artist. An online auction of one of Brian’s paintings - Blue and Yellow - will take place at 6.30pm on Friday the 15th of November, with details shared via email to those on our mailing list. Money raised will be donated to Jeeps for Peace, a local Edinburgh charity working in Ukraine. Please contact the gallery for further details about the auction and the exhibition.

Notes: All paintings are for sale and may be purchased or reserved prior to the exhibition opening. The framing styles on the paintings vary and sizes are listed in the catalogue for the overall framed dimensions. Further framed images will be available from Saturday the 9th of September.
