THE K I N G ' S BUS I NE S S

934 God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. GOD IN THREE PERSONS, BLESSED TRINITY, GLORY TO THE FATHER, GLORY TO THE SON AND GLORY TO THE HOLY GHOST, NOW AND FOR EVERMORE, WORLD WITHOUT END. AMEN. “ H E B E I N G D E A D , Y E T S P E A K E T H ” Our readers will be interested in knowing that over thirty-fire mission aries are now being supported on the foreign field, as a memorial to Lieut. Gordon Dow Gates, to whom a brief reference was made in the June number of The King’s Business, under the head “ A Missionary Aviator.,” This young man was killed by a fall of over 1000 feet from his aeroplane at Southern Field, July 17th, 1919, and the insurance money received by his parents from the government was used as -the nucleus of a fund for sending the Gospel to many lands. It was hoped to have at least twelve “ substi tutes” at work by the first anniversary of his home-going, but God has greatly honored the faith and devotion of this godly father and mother by giving them three times th e . number expected. Surely • “He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think.” A portion of this fund has been given to support native colpor teurs in Dr. Keller’s work in Hunan, China, (an account of which appears under the report of Bible Institute Evangelistic Departments elsewhere in this issue). Young Lieut. Gates was a conse crated Christian and greatly interested in mission work, continually sending home money “ for the Lord” and often going without needed things that he might have more to give. He had fre quently told members of his family and others that he believed God had an ap pointed time for him to go, and when

the 'time came nothing could possibly please him more than to be taken from the air. This thought made him ab solutely fearless and trustful. Any one interested in further details of this young man’s life and death, and the plan for sending. “ substitutes” to the foreign field, may obtain them by writing to the father, Mr. E. H. Gates, Jamaica, N. Y. T H E L O D G E Q U E S T IO N Said Paul Rader recently: “ One of the men in my church, after he was con verted, went to his lodge. He wanted to keep up with his lodge and though it met on Wednesday night— the same night as the church service-—he went to lodge. At the close of the meeting, they a ir joined hands and said the Lord’s Prayer. On my friend’s right hand was a saloon keeper and on his left a gambler, and with their hands in his he repeated: “ Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.” While they were repeating it, this man looked up into the face of Jesus and said, “ Never again, Lord” -—It was no place for him. The greatest brother hood on earth is that of the men and women who have been washed in the blood of Jesus. The world can only give you ritualistic ideas and empty form, but here you have been united to Jesus Himself by the precious blood.” “ Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.”
