He was safely protected in Egypt un­ til the death o f . Herod. He now sits on the throne of His Father, waiting until His enemies become His foot­ stool, when He will take tie throne of His father David, and reign as King of the Jews, and King of Kings, in Jeru­ salem, where the wise men sought Him and where all people shall then find Him. PRACTICAL POINTS (1) It was the dawning of a new day 'when the Morning Star settled over Bethlehem. (2) Those were wise men who followed whithersoever the star led. (3) The Coming of The King gave no promise of peace to the heart of Herod. (4) The leaders of the Jews knew the text of the Scriptures, but not the truth which they told. (5) Herod had no purpose to worship Him, but a plot to destroy Him. (6) That He was God manifest in the flesh is proven by His receiving the worship of the wise men. (7) The wisdom of the wise men is manifest in the .bending of the knee to the Son of Man, who is the Son of God. (8) The true light leads to Jesus. Those who find Him honor Him. They pour out their praises and worship Him. They give to Him their richest gifts. ¿Me, .Subject Illustration. ture verses and Bible scenes were printed on it. % The children learned their A. B. C.’s from this paper. They learned to read from the nursery wall. They imbibed the principles of Chris­ tian truth from these passages. Most of them grew up to be devoted Chris­ tians and many of them entered Chris­ tian work. The story is told ef Sir Richard Wal­ lace when exhibiting his picture at Bethual Green. The people said that the workers had no souls for art and would not appreciate its treasures. But a poor woman stood and gazed intently at a picture of the Infant Jesus in the arms of His mother. Then she ex­ claimed, “ Who would not try to be a good woman who had such a Child as that.” Jesus Was More Than Human. “ I know men," said Napoleon, at St. Helena, to Count de Montholon, “ I know men, and I tell you that Jesus is not a man. The religion of Christ is a mystery which subsists . by its own force, and proceeds from a mind which is not a human mind. We find in it a marked individuality, which originated a train of words anci actions unknown before. Jesus is not a philosopher, for His proofs are miracles, and from the first His disciples adored Him.” Turn­ ing to Gen. Bertrand, the Emperor ad­ ded. “ If you do not perceive that Jesus Christ is God, I did wrong to appoint you as a general!” - A foreign sculptor was doing a bust of Jesus, and, very anxious to know whether his work had come up to his idea or not, he took his little child into the studio and uncovered the statue, and the child said, “ Beautiful. That is a great man, papa.” The sculptor was disappointed and said to himself, “ This will never do.” He returned lo his work and began it afresh.
