We have listened to your eloquent appeals and have gazed at your paraphernalia for getting the world into the Church; now give US an opportunity to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit and look upon the program of God for separat ing the Church from the world. You have dragged the banner of the cross in the dust and made the Church the laughing stock of the ungodly; give us an opportunity to lift that banner above every flag’ in the universe so that men who laughed may he won to rejoice in the Christ of the cross. You have brought sadness and sorrow to our hearts; why not throw away the worldly weapons of warfare and come and join with us? Take the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God and let us fight the good fight of faith. Let us train men and women in the Word and work of our Lord and speed the message of eternal life to the ends of the earth and set the joy hells of heaven ringing in the hearts of redeemed ones. Let us have an “ Into-the- World-Church.Movement’ ’—into and unto the world with that Gospel Jesus gave and in obedience to His command, “ Go ye.” ; ;Let the church which is His body with unfeigned faith in His Word and unfaltering fidelity to Him self compel the world to believe that if has been with Jesus and has taken knowledge of Him. H. ‘ ‘PUT FEAR Into Tkeir Hearts” The reckless auto and truck drivers have been killing a lot of people in the City of the Angels and the Mayor has aroused the people with some clean-cut words ; “With the courts rests the final responsibility; What does a reckless driver care for a small fine? Nothing.- I am in favor of sending these drivers to jail whenever possible, and wherever possible; then of fining them the extreme limit allowed under the law, giving them the most drastic punishment possible. If the court will do this and put fear into the heart of this two per cent of reckless drivers, there will be no more little girls killed.” This is good. This is getting over on to God’s side concerning violation of law and the need of speeding up the execution of jail sentences. “ Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.” (Eccl. 8 :11.) The wise man is right and it would be well if this verse could be sent to every judge and justice of the peace in the land. It, would he well also to send it to every preacher by way of reminder so that he would be;faithful to the Word of God and put fear into the hearts of the people by telling them the truth concerning Satan and sin and the eternal fire of hell ; of the destiny of those who reject Christ’s atoning blood-; tell them of the dangers of reckless living, and train them against the sophistry of the deceivers of God’s Word who have crept into the pulpit, wolves in sheeps’ clothing; reproving, rebuking and exhorting with all long suffering and so much the more as they see the day approaching. We need more Jonahs to cry aloud in the ministry; some John the Baptists to cry “ Repent!” ; some John Knoxes to Cry, “ Give me Scotland or I die!” ; some John Wesleys to declare the whole' counsel of God. The need is to put fear into thé hearts of the people. Fear is one of the elements
