Meet Margaret HUMAN RESOURCES (HR) and payroll experts MHR have recently launched a video campaign – #EnableYourGreatness – that celebrates the hidden and often overlooked contributions made by payroll and HR professionals to successful businesses. The first two-minute film (http://bit.ly/2lJzUSC) in a series of six, focuses on ‘Margaret’, a payroll professional by day and ‘rock star’ by night, who uses iTrent, MHR’s flagship product. Ian Stewart, marketing director at MHR, commented that the “…video campaign is designed to raise the profile of payroll and HR professionals by challenging stereotypes and recognising the crucial roles they undertake on a daily basis. The videos aim to put a sense of human-ness, fun and heart back into HR, celebrating real people like Margaret who exist behind the scenes in organisations everywhere and, who if given the right tools, can achieve greatness in all aspects of life.” MHR’s customers will get the chance to nominate a hidden talent within their own business, with the winning entry forming the inspiration behind the sixth and final video in the series.
Employee services ROI calculator PERSONAL GROUP, a leading employee benefits provider, has launched an online employee services return on investment (ROI) calculator (http://bit.ly/2CwJh2I) which calculates how much money a company and its employees can save by implementing a best-in-kind employee services programme. The calculator uses information input by the user about their business to create a potential savings figure, but otherwise it defaults to using UK average data. The more company specific information the user has, for example around employee attrition or absence rates, the more accurate the calculation. Mark Scanlon, chief executive officer of Personal Group, said: “With total pay falling in real terms, employers and employees up and down the country are feeling the squeeze. Employee benefits are no longer just an HR focus, they’re a business imperative. We hope our research helps business leaders to quantify the positive impact that a benefits programme can have not only on employees, but the bottom line too.” Rob Alonso, IT and operations director at Opus Trust, said “As well as lowering costs, employee experience will be dramatically improved. Employees can access their payroll details securely whenever they need to, for example when applying for a mortgage or loan.” e-payslips launched THE OUTSOURCED communications specialist, Opus Trust Marketing, has launched e-payslips (http://bit.ly/2EDkUyi) to meet increased demand for self-serve payroll solutions. Unlike other electronic payslip offerings in the market, the service is standalone and deployable in less than a month thereby enabling businesses to make the transition between payroll cycles. The e-payslips service provides employees with easy access to an electronic version of their payslip, as well as other payroll documents such as P60 certificates and P11D returns, via an intuitive mobile app or online, depending on preference. When there’s a new payroll document to view, employees receive a notification by email.
Miracle Dynamics acquisition THE TRADE and assets of Miracle Dynamics Payroll Solution, a supplier of HR management technology (payroll, HR, time and attendance) to the Microsoft Dynamics NAV market, have been acquired by Eque2 Ltd which has over 1,400 customers using its construction and contracting management software applications. The acquisition marks continued growth of Eque2 and broadening of its product range.
Pressures on HR THE FINDINGS of a recent survey of 447 UK-wide HR professionals, details of which can be found in The 2018 HR landscape: What’s in store? (http://bit.ly/2Cpd8L4), reveals that businesses are not doing enough to encourage employees to reach their full potential. Cascade HR’s research found that: ● 44% believe the workforce does not have enough support to thrive, with a further 23% unsure if organisations are doing enough ● 72% of participants felt in 2017 slightly or significantly more over-stretched in their roles then they did in 2016 ● 32% have found employment legislation harder to navigate. Oliver Shaw, Cascade’s chief executive officer, believes 2017 to have been a challenging year for HR: “The pace and magnitude of change within the employment landscape – let alone the wider business environment – has posed immense pressures on the world of HR. “A reassuring 61% of HR professionals now feel ‘somewhat prepared’ for GDPR [General Data Protection Regulation]…In fact, only 15% of HR professionals surveyed feel significantly or slightly underprepared, which seems to contradict national statistics on a business-wide level.” With automation set to be a big theme in 2018, a greater reliance on technology could alleviate some of the pressures that HR has recently been feeling, suggests Oliver: “Only 3% of participants said that HR departmental efficiency and effectiveness is not at all dependent on automation. But 50% believe automation has a partial role to play, and a further 45% believe that role is significant. The more that tech can relieve HR of burdensome, admin-intensive tasks that could easily be automated, the greater the time that HR will have to spend on the more value-adding elements of their roles. “Automation has often been feared, in the past, as set to remove the ‘human’ from human resources. But tech won’t wipe out job roles in 2018 – it will supercharge them!”
