Redevelopment at Ryde
It has been a busy time for the Ryde Redevelopment project team as we work behind the scenes to award the ten- der to the main works builders. As part of this work, the General Manager announced in November that stage 1 and stage 2 will be built concurrently. This is a wonderful opportunity to have the new Ryde hospital completed 12 – 18 months early. There will be however more disruptions as a result and the team have been meeting with the department managers affected to discuss staging options and timeframes. We are hoping to have confirmed all of the clinical moves by the end of the year so that it can be announced to staff and that we can work collaboratively with departments to support the moves. Some key points for noting are; • The redevelopment team is working towards awarding the main works construction contract with works expected to start in early - mid 2024. • The construction staging plan for the redevelopment is being reviewed as part of the main works procure- ment process. There may be an opportunity to deliver the clinical service priorities within a shorter con- struction timeframe. • Northern Sydney Local Health District and Health Infrastructure are working through the options and what this means for staff, patients, suppliers and the community.
• Our early works builders HPAC have completed onsite and are moving on to other projects.
• The main weed eradication in the Blue Gum High Forrest is now complete and the transformation of this area is impressive (see photos below). We know that any organisational change can have an impact on employees, we are actively working to finalise planning so that we can work together to overcome any challenges and ensure a smoother transition to the new ways of working. While we are working through the construction staging, the redevelopment team can be contact- ed with any questions.
