Allied Health—Year in Review 2023
2023 has been a busy and successful year for Allied Health at Ryde Hospital. 127 Staff across 11 disciplines in acute, rehab, outpatients and community have provided care to more than 5500 distinct patients; provided more than 73,510 OOS and supported more than 9235 student hours. Ryde AH organised and presented at a number of District education events such as the NSR Advanced FEES Education Day (NSLHD and NSW wide), NSLHD Ataxia Course or ‘ Not just getting on with it ’ - Management of Compassion Fatigue and Burn- out Education Course.
Thickened Water Flavour Trial - Speech & Nutrition Depts
Ryde AH took part in 2 clinical trials and has been working to establish 2 more clinical trials for next year, completed 8 QI projects, held 6 “ Lunch and Learn Sessions ” – Equivalent to AH Grand Rounds. Presented on Dysphagia to the wider hospital com- munity, as well as providing education to Healthy Lifestyle Mens movement or the Chinese Community in East- wood. Implemented sustainability Initiatives such as the CAReS - Repurposed baby bundle bags; plastic spoons free speech therapy assessment kits Received more than 55 compliments from patients and staff. Speech HoD Sarah Drake was awarded NSLHD AH Leader of The Year Award. AH were successful in receiving $40,000 in grants for modification of ther- apy environment in Graythwaite Supported each other through a number of Wellbeing Events: AH Biggest Morning Tea - (raised $383), Ryde Al- lied Health Easter Egg Hunt, celebrated Christmas in July and December. Promoted Allied Health within Ryde through various discipline specific events and allied health professionals day. Another significant development in 2023 was the separation from Royal North Shore Hospital to become stand - alone Ryde allied health departments. Thank you to all Allied Health Staff for your dedication to excellence, your resilience and commitment to working as part of the wider multidisciplinary team. I am looking forward to all the exciting things we can achieve together in 2024!
