Kappa Chi Chapter Inspires Service Across Multiple Campuses K appa Chi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. was chartered on September 12, 1981, on the American Uni- Kappa Chi’s outreach extended in other ways, as well, such as blanketing the campuses in the DMV with roses for the ladies on Valentine’s Day.

versity campus. Since then, the chapter has spread to other campuses and now is comprised of American University, Georgetown University, The George Washington University (GW) and Catholic University. Being one of the only Divine Nine, undergraduate, Black Greek Lettered chapters in the District-Maryland- Virginia (DMV) area to have a Fraternity House, located on GWs Campus, the Kappa Chi chapter strives to uphold achievement. This year, Kappa Chi has focused on community-facing and leadership devel- opment events such as “Cooking with the Kappas, in which brothers helped college students learn how to cook healthy, affordable meals on Georgetown University’s campus on February 1, 2018. At American University, Brothers Khen- drick Beausoleil (Kappa Chi 2017) and Brother Malcolm Elashari-Rashed (Kap- pa Chi 2017) participated in the Sorority Life Training for leadership retreat. This retreat focused on Title IX, com- munity building, inclusivity and how to facilitate a happy and healthy Greek life on campus. Kappa Chi participated en masse at the Undergraduate Leadership Conference (ULC) at Salisbury Univer- sity. The ULC was a two-day leadership experience designed to increase broth- ers’ abilities to lead in the fraternity, on campus, in the community and their professions.

Members of the chapter stay attuned to the cultural challenges of the college campuses in the DMV. For example, Brother Beausoleil co-authored a timely piece on income inequality entitled "Fighting a Campus Class Culture" to rave reviews. It's yet another example of who we are and what we do in Kappa Alpha Psi ® . Below, the proprietors of Extraordinary Birthdays were so impressed with Kappa Chi, that the firm asked the chapter to assist it in programming birthday parties for young men in the Southeast DC area. This is a chapter that believes that multiple acts through service can have a lasting impact on the community within and outside of its campuses.
