TO THE CHAPTER INVISIBLE

Mark Alonzo Brewer, Sr. 1967–2018

Invisible on March 3, 2018 at the age of 48. Born in Chicago, IL to Frank Brown Sr. and Mattie Levy Brown. He attended grade school at Daniel J. Corkery Elementary School. He was a scholar at Chicago’s Von Steuben High School where he participated in extracurricular science programs including those at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He loved botany, chemistry and hydroponics. After graduating high school, he attended University of Illinois-Chicago, Missouri University of Science and graduated with a B.S. degree in chemistry from Kansas State University. After graduation, Brown resided in Kansas City, MO for several years. In 2002, he took a position with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a lab chemist. While at the FDA, Brown worked at various sites across the United States including southern California, Memphis, TN and U.S. territory of the Virgin Islands.

Brotherhood, College Career with the Youth Department, Vacation Bible School, and Cultural Heritage. Mark had a thirst for knowledge and teaching. He began his education in the Austin Independent School District attending Winn and Maplewood Elementary Schools, Pearce Middle School, and the dynamic LBJ High School where he graduated in 1986. At LBJ, he served as the team manager for football and track & field. Mark later went on to receive his Associate’s degree in Business at the former Austin Business School and then he received Huston-Tillotson College (now Huston- Tillotson University) in 1991. Mark was not just a regular student but also an active contributor and leader on campus during his time there. During his time at Huston-Tillotson, he was initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. during the Fall of 1988 in the Gamma Lambda Chapter where he led the undergraduate chapter as its Polemarch and went on to become a Life Member at the national and province levels. He served as a national undergraduate officer as Grand Strategus (1989-90) and as the Polemarch (2008-2010) of the Austin (TX) Alumni Chapter of the fraternity. During his tenure with the fraternity, he was always of service, received the Grand Polemarch Award and the William L. Crump History Award. Mark consistently espoused leadership, service, and achievement to those he mentored at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Mark Alonzo Brewer, Sr. (Gamma Lambda 1988) was born on December 19, 1967 in Austin, Texas to the late Arthur Brewer, Jr. and Mrs. Lorraine Ollison Brewer. Mark was preceded in death by his parents; Arthur Brewer, Jr. and Lorraine Ollison Brewer, brother Michael, and mother-in-law Mary Virginia Davis. Brother Brewer entered the Chapter Invisible on May 13, 2018. He leaves to mourn his passing; a loving wife and soulmate of 23 years: Cynthia Brewer of Vidalia, GA, his five children; Tamisha Brewer, Mark Brewer, Jr., Monica Brewer, Marissa Brewer, and Micaiyah Brewer all of Pflugerville, Texas; one granddaughter Allyson Samaria Crain of Pflugerville; one sister; Theresa Lorraine Brewer of Austin, Texas; one brother Jay Brewer; one brother-law Mariaz (Ruby) Davis of Bear, Delaware; sister-in-law Clarissa Davis of Roswell, Georgia, father- in-law Charles R. Davis of Macon, Georgia; Nieces; Kamiyah and Kiara Davis of Bear, Delaware, Jaylyna and Tiersten Watkins of Roswell, Georgia, one nephew Charles Davis, Jr of Bear, Delaware and a host of other loving family members and friends. Mark accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as his personal savior in the summer of 1991 and was baptized at Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church in Austin, Texas where he has been a member since childhood. He served as a choir member and teacher of Vacation Bible School. He then later joined the fellowship of Saint Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church in Pflugerville, Texas in October 2002. He worshipped there with his family and was a faithful member until he was called to be with the Lord. Mark served on various ministries at Saint Mary’s including

Beta 1976) was born in 1953 in Southern Pines, North Carolina and entered the Chapter Invisible on November 14, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jerry Capel; sons, Felton J. Capel III (Kanika) and Jason M. Capel (Ashley); parents, Felton Jeffrey Capel Sr., and Jean Walden Capel; five grandchildren, Cameron, Sydney, Elijah, Myles and Jayce; special niece and nephew Henry and Toni Jimerson; two brothers, and a host of other relatives and friends.
