Willie “Bill” Wilkerson 1945–2017 Longtime Newscaster

Willie“Bill” Wilkerson (Gamma Upsilon 1965) of St. Louis, Missouri was born January 1, 1945 and entered the Chapter Invisible on November 2, 2017. He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Margie Wilkerson; two daughters, Kimberli Wilkerson and

Kristen Wilkerson; one son, Jermaine Wilkerson; and 12 grandchildren, all of the St. Louis

area. Brother Wilkerson was a well- known broadcaster in St. Louis radio and TV for four decades as well as a local civic leader. He was a longtime board member for the Mathews-Dickey Boys & Girls Club, and served on the boards of the American Red Cross, St. Louis Children’s Hospital and the St. Louis Zoological Society. His work in the St. Louis community was recognized nationwide. In 2009, the FBI’s St. Louis Division selected him for the Director’s Community Leadership Award due to his work as executive director of “Reach Out St. Louis.” He was also a recipient of the Bob Broeg Award presented by the National Football Foundation for an initiative to help stem the dropout rate at four St. Louis schools, and keep St. Louis-area youth out of gangs.
