A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7

Over the last few weeks Year 7 have begun fundraising for Lepra. Students are encouraged to fundraise through a sponsored event either in or out of school. Alternatively students may make contributions by donating to the worthy cause on our JustGiving page or by giving cash to their form tutors. Congratulations to students from 7EMA and 7SSA who both ran very successful cake sales raising £176 for the Lepra charity and £44 for a Diabetes charity respectively. Click here to see their lovely cake stand. Well done to the Year 7/8 combined rounders team who beat RTS in their first fixture of the season. Well done to Flo V (7FCO) and Charlotte-Anne W (7SGR) who have received the most house points this week. Keep up the good work! Every year the Young People’s Library Service, based in Richmond, runs a book review competition to coincide with its launch of “Cover Story”, a teen read guide. Florence P in 7FCO was one of 8 winners out of 900 entries for the book review competition - a big well done! As Borough Sports approaches we are aiming to encourage students to attend track club and field event practises. Students will need to attend the clubs and trials in order to be selected for the school team. Year 7 monitoring information will be released shortly to give parents and carers feedback on how students have been performing across the curriculum. Please discuss the suggestions for improvement with your child to help them with their progress in each subject. Lanyards are hugely important for school security and for use in the canteen. Please encourage your child to take care of their lanyards and to avoid leaving them unattended where possible. Finally, as we incorporate more chromebook use into our curriculum, please can I ask that parents / carers ensure that students bring in a fully charged chromebook each day along with the charger.

It is about a normal boy who finds out he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon. He is then brought to a camp for all the children of Greek gods. After trying to settle in, he is selected to go on a quest and that's when the adventure begins… ~Recommended by Eva A, Year 7 student
