WE TAKE SLIP-AND-FALL ACCIDENTS SERIOUSLY AND SO SHOULD YOU!

During the winter, there’s nothing like sitting next to the window with a blanket and a hot cup of tea to watch the snow fall. Winter weather is a part of life in New England, and it is often quite beautiful — until you have to go outside. Snow and ice can spell disaster when allowed to linger on a sidewalk or parking lot. Slipping on an icy walkway can mean more than just an embarrassing video uploaded to the internet. Slip-and-fall accidents are incredibly dangerous and can lead to serious injuries, including strained muscles, broken bones, lacerations, and head injuries. Always practice care when walking outside after winter weather. While snow and ice increase the risk of a slip-and-fall, these kinds of accidents can also happen inside a building.

Factors that can contribute to a fall inside include: • Waxed or wet floors • Objects in busy walkways • Loose surfaces • Potholes in heavy foot traffic • Crowd trampling When you’re out in public, always be aware of your surroundings. Keep an eye out for signs of danger and always follow posted and verbal safety instructions. Additionally, if you’re going to be outside in winter weather, be sure to wear shoes with proper traction and avoid walking on snowy or icy walkways whenever possible. Whether it’s inside or outside, property owners in Massachusetts have a responsibility to keep their properties in a reasonably safe condition. This

means shoveling snow and salting icy walkways, cleaning up spills quickly, and putting up clear signs warning of impending danger. When property owners fail in this responsibility, they can be held liable for any injuries that occur on their property. Slip-and-fall cases can be difficult to prove, so time is of the essence. If you were injured in a fall due to someone else’s negligence, call 508-775-9099 and speak to an experienced slip-and-fall attorney today!

Year’s resolutions. The truth is, they’re a trap, and there’s no reason to let them get you down!
