BOXING’S OSCARS HIT THE BIG APPLE

FIGHTER OF THE YEAR TERENCE CRAWFORD

“[Winning Fighter of the Year is] a blessing, and I feel great about it. Everybody knows the legacy of Terence Crawford is real, and the things I’ve accomplished in boxing are gonna be hard to top. “I’ll miss the competitiveness in boxing. I’m a competitor. I like to compete in everything. I like to be the best in everything I do. I’m gonna miss that, but at the same time, I’m gonna appreciate not having to get up early in the morning and take my body through hell to the point where I’m getting injuries. I’m not gonna miss that, but I’m gonna miss being competitive.”

FEMALE FIGHTER OF THE YEAR MIZUKI HIRUTA

“Japan doesn’t always recognize female fighters, so I hope that all the Japanese female fighters hold on to their dreams. Dreams do come true. “Being able to fight four times [in 2025] is basically because of my coach, Manny Robles. And being able to fight four times in the United States is because of my promoter, Tom [Loeffler]. I’m very grateful, and it was a great year for me.”

FIGHT OF THE YEAR CHRIS EUBANK JR UD 12 CONOR BENN *Only Conor Benn spoke to The Ring. “I’m extremely blessed [to win Fight of the Year]. Ultimately, I left part of my soul in there. We both did. We fought with our hearts on our sleeves. It was for bragging rights. It was a family feud. It was personal. It had history. “For [the fight] to live up to the hype and do what we said it was gonna do … we done that. And credit to Chris for being the dance partner I needed to put on that performance. I like the sound of [the fight being the first all-British Fight of the Year], and it’s a blessing to join legends like Muhammad Ali. It’s a blessing.”
