Site-specific limitations on single rescuer operations.

O UTSIDE RESCUE OF INJURED PERSON

60 min.

The aim of this lesson is to enable the participants to evacuate an injured person in a safe and secure manner from the hub or nacelle, outside of the tower, to a primary assembly area and from a transition piece to a secondary assembly area.

After having successfully completed this lesson, the participants can:

83) Take responsibility for determining the rescue strategy during a rescue operation, include a clear preferred route outside or inside the tower and explain how to mitigate against interfering winds when moving to the transition piece (Ability, intermediate level)

Where possible the participants shall work in teams of two:

ELEMENT 9.1 - OUTSIDE RESCUE OF INJURED PERSON

Learning objectives:

84) The participants can take responsibility for giving clear communication and guidance to other emergency responders (e.g. vessel or ambulance crews) including coordinating the handover of an injured person (Ability, intermediate level)

85) The participants can perform the preparation of the injured person for safe transportation, utilising safe and suitable anchor points (Skills, intermediate level)

86) The participants can select safe lifting angles of the rescue equipment and apply deviation and edge protection to the rescue device rigging (Skills, advanced level)

87) The participants can perform the use of a rescue device in a passive setup and attach the rescue device descending rope to the injured person harness (Skills, intermediate level)
