ELEMENT 5.1 - COMBINED REFRESHER SCENARIOS FOR RESCUE FROM BLADE AND RESCUE FROM SPINNER
Learning objectives:
34) The participants can perform at least one combined hub/spinner/inside -blade internal rescue scenario, moving an injured person to a designated assembly point using manufacturer -approved lowering/raising and cross -hauling techniques, while maintaining control of fall and manual - handling risks (Skills, intermediate level)
The instructor shall:
a. Brief one or more realistic scenarios combining elements from:
a.i
rescue from blade (internal access)
a.ii
rescue from spinner
b. Define clear roles (lead rescuer, assistant(s), injured person, observer) and success criteria for each scenario
c.
Ensure that:
c.i only manufacturer -approved methods of use for rescue equipment are applied controlled lowering/raising and cross -hauling techniques are used (tensioned lines/zip -lines/tramways are not included in this training)
c.ii dropped -object prevention, communication and manual
-handling controls are actively
addressed
d. Facilitate short debriefs between scenario runs, focusing on anchor strategy, communication, division of tasks and improvement points
The participants shall:
a. Take turns acting as lead rescuer, assistant rescuer(s), injured person and observer
b.
As lead rescuer:
b.i conduct a brief scene assessment and select suitable anchor points and equipment
b.ii direct the team in packaging and moving the injured person using approved equipment and techniques
b.iii maintain communication with the team and, where applicable, external support
