tion. There are probably more profess ing Christians in America than in any other country of the world. By no stretch of the imagination, however, in the true sense of the word, could our nation be really called “Christian.” Our leaders do not promulgate the doc trines of the Lord Jesus Christ. As an example, one of the largest mission fields today is our public school system where 37,000,000 boys and girls re ceive little guidance in the truths of God’s Word. Q . Billings, Montana — “Where is the Scripture which says, ‘Soul' and body will be reunited in the resurrection’?” A. There are numerous Scriptures that indicate that in the resurrection God will bring back the immaterial part of man to be joined with his ma terial part. No verse states in so many words that the soul and body will be reunited. The Scriptural definition of physical death is summed up in James 2:26, “For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead.” The body is sev ered from the spirit. The resurrection is a reversal of death. The spirit of man reoccupies the body. This is pic tured for us in Ezekiel 37 as we see the national resurrection of Israel spiritually. I Corinthians 15:51 to 58 reveals the promise to believers when this “corruptible will put on incor ruption.” Again, I Thessalonians 4:13 to 18 indicates how man’s spirit, which has been with Him ever since death, is put back into the body that has been deceased. Q . Kansas City, Missouri — “A friend of mine is a cripple and barely earns enough to meet her expenses. She can hardly afford to buy proper food and yet she feels she must tithe. Do you think that this is right?” A. It depends upon the spirit and com punction of her giving. If it is grudg ingly or of mere ritual, it will not bring blessing to her heart. If she feels that she must tithe, however, we are confident that the Lord will make up to her what she has sacrificed. 19

be premature. He had many things to say to His disciples before He went to the cross. He knew of that timing; however, He did not want the expia tory death to transpire before the ap pointed hour. We do not necessarily believe that Christ was using “re verse” psychology, that is, telling them not to speak so that they would do just the opposite in revealing the news to other people. Q . Portland, Oregon — “One of my chil dren’s teachers declared to her class that Christianity has evidently failed as a system since, after 2,000 years, we still have wars, hatred and 'preju dice. Do you feel that Christianity has in any sense failed?" A. No, we certainly do not feel that Christianity has failed. We as Chris tians, however, often fail. The Lord Jesus Christ has said of His church, “The gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” The Saviour is going to .bring about those prophesied events, as well as the final consummation of all things, exactly as He has declared in His holy Word. Christianity has not been tried and found wanting, it just simply has never been tried. We speak of America as being a Christian na
